A Masterclass in Irish Pub Design: The Brewery at Vilamoura Marina
The Brewery in Vilamoura Marina is a striking example of modern Irish pub design, combining traditional character with clever architecture and hospitality-focused details. In our latest walkthrough video, we explore how we transformed this once-overlooked venue into one of the most eye-catching pubs in the Algarve.
A New Look That Draws the Crowd
Located in a prime position on the marina front, The Brewery now stands out with a bold visual identity. Where the original building lacked character and curb appeal, we’ve added strong exterior elements — from a rotating water wheel custom-built in Ireland to new facade lighting that makes the venue pop at night.
The key goal? Attracting foot traffic. Passers-by are naturally drawn in by the layered lighting, live music, and the open bi-fold glass windows that let sound and energy spill out across the promenade.
Outdoor Seating That Maximises Atmosphere
One of the standout features of this Irish pub design is the tiered outdoor seating. We structured the space to offer clear views of both the Vilamoura Marina and the busy walkway below — because people love to people-watch.
To provide comfort and cover in all seasons, we combined triangular sail shades with parasols, creating a mix of sun and shade that works day or night. This layout not only enhances the customer experience but also creates visual layers that make the space more inviting from a distance.
Irish Craftsmanship Meets Algarve Charm
Inside, The Brewery is rich with texture and detail. Salvaged timber flooring and quarry tiles shipped from Ireland blend seamlessly with copper beer tanks, bric-a-brac-filled cabinets, and characterful signage by a visiting Irish sign-writer.
We retained the brewery theme throughout with elements like:
Feature archways and barrel clusters
Curved drink shelves that break up space
Up-lit display cabinets with authentic artefacts
A VIP seating section with marina views
The interior flows seamlessly into the exterior thanks to bi-fold windows — blurring the line between inside and out, especially when live music fills the air.
Designed to Perform — Day and Night
This is not just a pub; it’s a performance venue. At night, the lighting design transforms The Brewery into a magnetic hotspot on the marina. From the glow of bulkhead lights to the sparkle from inside, every design detail works to create a welcoming, high-energy environment.
